The results of a study of Wambaya, Gudanji, Binbinka and Ngarnka plant and animal knowledge undertaken in the Gulf of Carpentaria and Barkly Tablelands area of north Australia by traditional knowledge custodians, linguists and a biologist are presented. Wambaya, Gudanji, Binbinka and Ngarnka names and uses of plants and animals, scientific names and common English and some Kriol names for 224 plants and 271 animals are included. Introductory chapters include Wambaya, Gudanji, Binbinka and Ngarnka seasons, terms for implements and tools, and plant and animal types. Wambaya, Gudanji, Binbinka and Ngarnka biological knowledge is categorised in later chapters. Indices of animal common names, plant common names and Wambaya, Gudanji, Binbinka and Ngarnka and Kriol plant and animal names are provide; 134 plants and 150 animals are illustrated.
