Language Centre pay it forward to local vet practice

Posted on: 31 March 2022, 3:25pm

Papulu Apparr-kari Aboriginal Corporation staff handed the Barkly Vet service a donation of $1.850 this week.

The Language Centre team has been fund raising for the vet over the past two months in various way of making meals and cakes, which they have been selling to families, raffles and donating money themselves.

The idea was suggested by staff at a meeting in January 2022 CEO Karan Hayward said. “The staff wanted to support community in some way to give back to the community that aids our community to have a better lifestyle and the first place suggested was the vet,” she said.

Anita Mayers said the staff gave up their free time to cook and bake and the support we got from people buying the stuff we made was great. “The money raised will be used to benefit the community through the great work the vet does for us all and we are so proud of our staff for the selfless act,” she said.
